Title: Stormy Night to Fly
Post by: Marty Barnes / TWVA-KLAX on June 18, 2015, 06:47:41 PM
If you were flying any where on the eastern side of the USA tonight, with real time weather, then you basically saw this bunch-o-clouds!  Lots of swirling winds as well that turned this flight into a carnival tilt-a-whirl ride.  OVA767F flight from KBWI-KSTL .... <note to KSTL maintenance, restock barf bags, please>

"...... and don't call me Shirley!"

"Airplane" is one of the few movies I make an attempt to watch on DVD every year.   :)  It's what I call a classic.

Until recently, I had always thought that it was an original script.  Not so.   :o

My wifey is Turner Classic Movie fan, and I recently watched a 1957 movie called , "Zero Hour".  A very bad, low budget disaster film.  However, the entire script, story and dialog <minus the comic inserts>,  is repeated in the movie "Airplane".  The whole cast is there and the wife and I added the "Airplane Zingers" to the back side of this 1957 drama presentation.  The dialog even contains the phase .... "I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.   LOL

Check it out if you get the chance ..... a really dud movie until you make the connection.

Haha, ok so I found out this is a true story and I had to share. One of my favorite captains I fly with is retiring this month. Between the Air Force (B-52) and the Commercial (CRJ200), he has flown for 30+ years. I asked him what was his favorite story or occurrence that he ever had!? He told me there is one day that will never be topped.

The captain said he was working with the FO to get the flight ready and going over paperwork. They noticed people were laughing getting on the flight but thought nothing of it. Then a gentlemen stood in the doorway and they thought it was someone wanting to see in. Just as they turn around in walked Leslie Nielsen and in character told them his famous line from Airplane "Good Luck. We're all counting on you." At which point he just turned and walked to his seat. He said they both were in tears laughing along with the FA and the passengers within ear shot. Said to this day, that has never been topped.  :D
