Title: Work horse of the 90's
Post by: Marty Barnes / TWVA-KLAX on August 06, 2015, 07:48:45 PM
I have never seen a breakdown of the number of passengers carried by specific models of aircraft.  Would be very interesting taking into account the number of aircraft built, seating density. number of airlines world wide that had adopted the model, etc.  My money would be that the DC-9 / MD80 series would be in the upper areas of that list.  A true industry workhorse that continues to provide a design base / spark for other manufacturers.

Couple of shots from schedule flight TWA1254-A, service from Portland to Los Angeles.  Was never sure which came first ... this livery, or Tylenol.  :D

I would have to agree, Marty - especially remembering the first ones I saw in the 60's were the little "bowling shoe" DC9-10s. Cute little buggers, though -

Great shots...and a great aircraft! There will never be another like it. Thx for sharing.
