GALLERY / Ozark DC9-32 in XPlane 11
« on: February 08, 2018, 02:45:39 PM »
After lots of digging, found an Ozark repaint for a freeware DC9-32 in XP11.  Took her out for a early evening run from KSTL-KDFW.

"Push back at KSTL, ready to taxi:

"Lining up on 36L at KDFW, (and yes I was too high .... altitude wise):"

"At the gate, KDFW, with the exit smile for the passengers:"

Anticipate doing quite a few flights with this bird, and am contemplating pulling the trigger on a FlyJSim 727 payware aircraft.  It claims to be what XP11 calls a 'Study' aircraft as every system is incorporated into the model.  The contemplation revolves around whether that realism can be scaled.  I don't want to spend 30 minutes starting engines looking for 50 switches located on different panels.

BTW, this little bird showed her love by greasing the skids at KDFW.  Somebody better come over and knock me off the Ozark landing leader-board.   ;) :D

Looking good!
Wish I had at least one artistic bone in my body.  I tried my hand at painting aircraft ... just could not get the hang of it.  Layers, channels, and palettes oh my.

Marty, which L1011 is that?   I have just flight and captain sim but have not seen that livery for either.  It looks great in those shots

It's right here on the site.  Go to the Fleet, New Arrivals, and look for the file 2016-Lockheeed L1011 McBee.

' And there are too many e's in that Lockheed, but it is really a pain to redo the upload and web links.   :)'

It's really great to get a real-life pilot's point of view about the aircraft they fly ... and we simulate flying.   :)

At a former job in the defense aerospace segment, I traveled about 3 months out of the year.  Being 25 years ago, the equipment was mainly Boeing and McDonnell-Douglas.  Airbus adoption in the US was not too prevalent at the time.  From a purely passenger point of view, the first Airbus equipped flight I took left a feeling that is was not as 'beefy' or 'solid'  as the MD / Boeing birds.  All in all though, the aircraft from both manufacturers appear to be well built and maintained.  For me as a passenger, that is the prime concern when I get on board.

Had me one of those L-1011 itches the other day.  Scratched all the way from KBOS to KSTL.   :)

Happy Thanksgiving back at you and to all.  My weakness is the made from scratch dressing and giblet gravy.  Think I had about 3 helpings of that yesterday.

That's a sharp looking bird.   :)
The lines are really sharp and clean, even with the kangaroo pouch underneath!

Gorgeous looking paint work there!  <Salute>
The angle on the first photo really puts the size of the 767 tail structure into perspective.
