Although I don't have a TWA paint for her, have really started to like this XCrafts payware E175 I picked up on a sale over the Holidays. In my non-commercial-pilot-passenger-only-experience, the sim 'feels' appropriate for her regional jet status and can be quite challenging in weather and cross wind landing.
Please join me in welcoming new TWVA and KLAX pilot, Steve Clark, TWA2314.
Email conversations during the Pilot on-boarding process revealed Steve brings a wealth of real life civilian and military flight experience along with his flight simulator background.
With a maximum push to get supplies to people in need, there sometimes is a shortage of pilots with available hours to keep the chain moving. Received a request in the KLAX office for 727 pilots. Gladly offered some service.
Did a quick hop into KAMA with a 727 tonight and was surprised to find 'static' company traffic at the gate in XP11. I do have that livery in my stable, but AI aircraft is something I haven't even got around to in XP11. Was a nice and welcomed surprise.
Starting a thread for pilots to share screen shots of their Berlin Airlift flights. Even though it's June, I am going to look into setting up some custom winter weather mess. From what I've read, winters in Germany can be wicked.
Final run up and mag check on flight leg BAL002 with the freeware JBK DC-4 / C-54: Cowl flaps open, main flaps at 20, mucho up elevator trim.
When ever I fly this bird in the sim, always picture myself as this dude: (youngsters may need to google the IMDb site for the film, 'Airport' for culture reference ... good script, great cast, excellent film production ... and a fantastic soundtrack.)
After lots of digging, found an Ozark repaint for a freeware DC9-32 in XP11. Took her out for a early evening run from KSTL-KDFW.
"Push back at KSTL, ready to taxi:
"Lining up on 36L at KDFW, (and yes I was too high .... altitude wise):"
"At the gate, KDFW, with the exit smile for the passengers:"
Anticipate doing quite a few flights with this bird, and am contemplating pulling the trigger on a FlyJSim 727 payware aircraft. It claims to be what XP11 calls a 'Study' aircraft as every system is incorporated into the model. The contemplation revolves around whether that realism can be scaled. I don't want to spend 30 minutes starting engines looking for 50 switches located on different panels.
BTW, this little bird showed her love by greasing the skids at KDFW. Somebody better come over and knock me off the Ozark landing leader-board.
