Took considerable amount of time to just get the engines started on this beauty, but finally got enough ground school under my belt to take the PMDG DC6 out on a revenue flight.

Have been spending a lot of time in MSFS2020.  Went back and flew some XP11 ... it was a joy.  So much, that I've added XP12 to Santa's list.

Wife and I cut  our big road trip by a day.  Used the saved Motel money and pulled the trigger on the FS2020 Maddog X.  It was a good squeeze.  :D

This is the first, true study level aircraft I have owned.  Somewhat steep learning curve just to get the engines started and the FMC programmed.  Have also finally got the AiG beta traffic mod going.  This was like my 3rd attempt at getting it running.  It is still beta, and the injector kicks out from time to time, but it is nice to see "real" traffic in MSFS2020.

Went thru a lot of youtube tutorials to get it set up.  One that worked best for me was:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XM415ibRsM

Early evening flight into KBOS.  Although the A320 I was flying in FS2020 has little resemblance to an X-Wing fighter, the only thing running thru my mind was ...

GALLERY / POST YOUR Extreme Challenge Flight PICS here
« on: April 25, 2020, 05:56:07 PM »
Shake off those Stir Crazy Pandemic Blues by posting some screenshots of your Spring Challenge 2020 flights here in this thread!  You never know who's spirit you  might lift with just a little bit of sharing.   ;)

Used the Twin Otter for the EXTRM 14 flight into the shortest commercial airport in the world, TNCS.  Its' excellent STOL capabilities ensures it will be doing quite a bit of duty in this series!  These are from a very short flight from TNCM-TNCS ... 24 nm.  You can see your destination just about the time you turn to a heading of 190 after lift off.

"A lot of swirling crosswind is generated by the rising topology of the island.  Took two attempts, but managed to finally get the speed, trim, and flap settings to handle the swirl:"

"Who in the right mind puts a fence on the approach to the shortest commercial field ?:"

"Throttles back, floating her in.  The Twin Otter can stop on a dime with very effective prop thrust reverse and generous brakes.
Only had 2 of the 11 passengers complain about whiplash.  That's a winner in my book."   ;)

HANGAR/DOWNLOADS / FeelThere payware ERJ-170 Livery Available
« on: December 07, 2019, 12:02:02 PM »
The Mike Concannon livery for the FeelThere ERJ-170 is now available for download in the Fleet/New Arrivals page.

Scroll to the bottom of that page to find the download link.

A little note from the creator:

Members wanting to use this, remember that it is the newest release for the 170 for FSX/P3D. Old FS2004 version is not compatible (see their site for FEELTHERE - EMBRAER E-JETS V2 - EMBRAER 175 AND 195 P3D4) .

A very good price for two nice planes. The have an FMC with VNAV, etc but you can fly it through basic autopilot mode and GPS if you desire. The autopilot buttons do not light up (same as in the real planes) when pushed - you have to have the FD on and see the related modes displayed on the PFD.

In the end - I like it, and I have flown a lot of payware planes over many years - this is worth getting and learning.

THE LOUNGE / KDFW Parking ... (real life question)
« on: April 01, 2019, 03:13:00 PM »
Wifey has an Alaska land & sea cruise lined up this summer.  Have been looking at one-way flight arrangements to PANC.

Do any of you fly in and out of KDFW in Real Life where you have to park your car?  It's been several years since I flew out of KDFW and was curious about the long-term parking rates there now.  It looks as if KDFW has the best flights and pricing for heading west even though I have to drive about 5 hours to get there.  Cost of parking could shift that.

However, there is a non-stop 787 flight out of KDFW that is really enticing me and could shift the price analysis a bit.   ;)
