Avsim.com has recovered from the attack of May 12. The website is back online, as well as the forums, and
and the reviews. The file library was 90% recovered with 100% of the FS2004 and FSX libraries also found
intact. We eagerly await the reopening of the file library which at the moment is not available.
Tom Allensworth notes that the donations were such that they were able to
purchase two state of the art servers (at a cost of about $24,000) to replace those that were attacked. These servers are not only
more reliable, but they are also more secure than the previous servers. Not to mention the storage space
that should hold them well into the future.
Furthermore, a team of volunteers has been assembled to completely redesign
the website. They will do the front end as well as the php backend to make it not only look more modern, but
also make it function more reliably and faster.
Thank you to all who donated. You helped make this just a blip in the history of Avsim.
Welcome to Ozark Virtual
Ozark Air Lines was a pioneering regional airline that came to
be in 1950 when it started DC-3 service between Saint Louis Downtown Airport
and Chicago with stops in Illinois. Well known for its "Go Getter Bird" and
"Three Swallows" trademarks, Ozark grew to a major national carrier with a
strong hub in Saint Louis where it had its roots.
Ozark Virtual Airlines takes you back to the glory days of Ozark. If you
fly using Microsoft Flight Simulator, we sincerely hope you'll consider
joining us. We fly the aircraft and the routes the actual Ozark flew. We
welcome new pilots and are here to help you achieve your goals.
The Silver Swallows Alumni is an organization dedicated to former Ozark employees.
Visit their website to see
what they are all about and read the history of this great airline from those who lived it.
A notice to those who like to play games In the past week, I have had at least two people who think they are smart. They join the VA and file fraudulent pireps, and use funny names.
What these punks don't realize, is the fact that this website logs the IP Address of everyone who joins. It sends that IP to me in an email. I keep all of those emails in a special folder, and if need be, refer back to it and ban that IP. So, the next time the fool comes to this website, he is greeted with a not so nice message. AND, since this website is on MY server, I have the ability to ban his entire subnet. His ISP will not take kindly to that, especially when I email them and show them what kind of game their customer was playing.
So, if you are one of these clowns, you have been forewarned. Posted by Brian on Jun 27, 2009 Rank and Aircraft The aircraft that pilots are allowed to fly according to their rank has been changed. You will find the new ratings at the top of the page on the roster.
I have tried to add more incentive especially in the higher ranks. Let me know if you think something is inappropriate.
